Yesterday, Mia and I went to the Children's Museum of Denver. We have a season pass but it was the first time we've been there since they completed the multi million dollar remodel.
Mia and I went to our usual favorite exhibits, the kinetics rube goldberg machine, the bubble factory and the backyard playground. But as we were going through we discovered some new exhibits. Theres a large structure that runs through the middle of the museum. A large climbing area, Mia is too small to be able to enjoy it, kids must be 40" tall to climb. We were directed to the smaller strucutre that featured a mist waterfall. Mia ran through it atleast 30 times.
We continued on through the path the museum laid out. We found a large water system. Three whirlpools with colored plastic balls captured Mia's interest. She could dunk the balls into the water and they were sucked down into the vortex. They would pop back up into a resevoir. Mia loves water so we stayed there for about 20 minutes.
I had to pick her up to break her away from the water, her legs went limp so I left her on the ground as I walked up the stairwell. Before I could get out of sight she ran whimpering after me. Upstairs there was a large windowed structure with paper airplanes inside. Kids were lining up to have their turn to shoot their own airplane into the box using an air compressor. Mia kept trying to cut in line but dutifully held my hand while we waited for our turn.
After a little over an hour, I had all I could handle but I'm sure if it were up to her we would have stayed all day. If you haven't seen the new edition to the museum I would highly recommend it. Kids love it and its a great outlet for their energy.
