New Bed 12/15/15

About two weeks ago, Mia decided she was done pretending her crib could contain her anymore. I was laying in bed recovering from oral surgery, I heard a thump and a succession of little foot pats on the hallway carpet. She appeared before my bed unsure what my reaction would be. I could only smile and say "hi honey". She smiled back.

I decided it's about time to convert her crib into her first big girl bed. I fished the conversion kit out of the crawl space and maneuvered it up to her room. She was confused when I began removing the bolts and dissambling her long time bed. She sat in the empty void where her mattress once suspended. I had to continually move her out of the way into her small leather recliner.

I assumed that the bed would be converted into a twin, I was surprised that a twin took up so much space. When I measured the dimensions, it turned out to be a full. I cancelled the order for a twin sized comforter and then I packed up Mia to head to American Furniture Warehouse. She fell asleep in the cart as I checked out and woke up as the warehouse employees strapped the mattress and box spring to the top of our car.

I removed the shelves that were not hovering over her head board, I touched up the holes with spackle and paint. I made a last minute trip to Park Meadows mall to get the bedding so we could tuck in together for the night. It didn't take long for the both of us to nod off around 10 oclock. CJ was at a Nuggets game with his dad that night, I was creeping out of her room when he came home around 11.

He was happy that he missed out on all the fun, but we both will be in for the real job of keeping her contained. She's already figured out how to take the child proof doorknobs off. I'll be sleeping with one eye open for a while.
